Broomfield United Methodist Church
Broomfield, CO
- Director of Worship and Arts
Full time position with duties that include: administration of the music department, budgeting, selection of music for the traditional Sunday services, directing the Chancel Choir (traditional), the BUMC Festival Choir and Gabriel’s Horns, the traditional service orchestra.
Responsible for the vision, leadership and direction of the music program, including supervision of the organist, staff accompanists, volunteer adult choir directors, children’s choir directors, hand bell director, volunteer staff, technical staff and several small ensembles.
Arranging and scoring for orchestra for weekly traditional worship services. Arranging and scoring as needed for Easter, Christmas and special programs.
Selection of major works for concerts and special worship services and the hiring of professional orchestral members and outside soloists as needed.
Created the following programs at Broomfield UMC:
- Gabriel’s Horns, an orchestra for traditional worship services.
- Madrigal Dinners 2004, 2005
- BUMC Festival Choir, a special events choir that sings major choral works:

Founder of the Colorado Repertory Singers, a community chorale in Broomfield, Colorado started in January 2002. Responsible for all artistic and musical decisions of the chorale as well as planning and conducting three concerts per year, selecting and purchasing music, auditioning new members, and selecting soloists, guest artists and instrumentalists as needed for performances.
Prepared chorale and four other choirs and conducted a performance of the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré at Carnegie Hall, June 11, 2006.
Prepared Chorale to sing Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna at Carnegie Hall, June 2004, under the direction of Dr. Tim Sharpe of Rhodes College, Memphis, TN.

Duties included selection of music for all services, worship design for both contemporary and traditional services, Taize services, bulletin preparation for the contemporary service, direction of the Chancel Choir and the Youth Choir.
Responsible for the vision, leadership and direction of the music program, including supervision of the organist, children’s choir director, handbell choir director, paid soloists and volunteer staff.
Selected major works for concerts and special worship services. Hired professional orchestral members and outside soloists as needed. Arranged and scored parts when additional instrumentalist were used.
Served with other staff members as a director and teacher in the two-week Park Hill United Methodist Church Summer Arts Camp and the annual summer Youth Music Retreat.

Worked closely with the President, Manager and Chorale Council to ensure continued growth.
Prepared Chorale to sing with the National Repertory Orchestra under the direction of Carl Topilow at the Breckenridge Music Festival. Works included: Beethoven Mass in C, Rutter Gloria and Borodin Polovtsian Dances.
